RIVERSIDE, CA- Krista Stinson, who attended Katella High School as a senior last year, won “Senior High School Athlete of the year” recently for her outstanding performance on the basketball and volleyball teams. Stinson recently signed to play those two sports for the La Sierra University Golden Eagles in the fall of 2003 as a pre-med/undecided major.
Stinson was especially recognized for her basketball play. Last season, as a 6’1” power forward on the Katella team that went 16 and 9, she had the following averages: 13.2 points per game, 39% field goals, 58% free throws, 7.3 rebounds per game, 9 block shots and 17 assists.
Stinson received her award on May 29, 2003 at the “5th Annual Superintendent’s Scholar/Athlete of the Year Awards Dinner,” for the Anaheim Union High School District. The awards ceremony took place at the Anaheim convention center.
